Santuary Stories: Latefa
Meet Latefa, from Edgars Mission Farm Sanctuary. She was rescued from a sales yard 16 years ago, and has called Edgar's Mission her home ever since! She loves the outdoors, slow walks around the paddocks, and fresh bales of hay - what a dream.
Did you know cows love music? Latefa enjoys relaxing and listening to soothing classical music. And when she's not being a muso, she loves to watch the sunrise, eat her weetbix (lots of good fibre!), and she cannot get enough of chin scratches!

Edgars Mission is a not-for-profit sanctuary for rescued farmed animals in Victoria (Australia), founded in 2003 by Pam Ahern. It all started with trying to protect pigs, and when James Cromwell, aka “Farmer Hoggett” from the movie Babe, arrived in Australia in May 2003, Pam saw an opportunity to highlight the plight of pigs and our flawed animal protection legislation that excludes farmed animals. Aa a passionate animal activist, James was keen to help, agreeing to have his photograph taken with a pig - a pig named Edgar Alan Pig.
After the photoshoot, they created a sanctuary to provide lifelong loving care for their new pig and named it in his honour. And today, thousands of animals’ lives have been saved due to this humble pig with heaps of charm.

Why are animal sanctuaries important?
