He’s one of their largest residents, but despite his size, Doc is passive and gentle.
He loves meeting new people, and his favorite thing is to receive scratches on the bump between his horns – he’ll walk up to you and put his head down for scratches, which can look intimidating, but he’s just saying hi! He also loves the vets at Catskill Animal Sanctuary, and likes to lick them!

Catskill Animal Sanctuary is a 150-acre refuge in New York’s Hudson Valley. Home to 10 species of farmed animals that have been rescued from cruelty, neglect and abandonment.
Since a snowy day in January 2001, when a tiny pony named Dino, the sole survivor of a horrific barn fire, hobbled off the trailer and onto their grounds, more than 5,000 animals have come to call Catskill Animal Sanctuary home.
Over the years they continue to come — sometimes one needy soul, sometimes a flock of 100 or more at a time. The kind folk at CAS feel the utmost privilege to help each and every rescued animal, so they can understand what love feels like.
94% of their non-vegan visitors say they intend to reduce or eliminate animal products from their diet — proof that the work they're doing — combining love and urgency, connecting people with animals, and supporting people in their vegan journey — is working.
